Соприкосновение by ПОСЛЕСВЕЧЕНИЕ : Album Review
The Russian post-rock artist ПОСЛЕСВЕЧЕНИЕ released their debut album Соприкосновениеe. This is mostly an instrumental album with some lyrics in the ending song. The title of the album means to contact or touch in Russian. Given the soundscape of the album, the latter interpretation seems more fitting.
This six-track album is raw, emotional, and full of complex guitar parts and time signatures. The artist mentions Do Make Say Think and Modest Mouse as influences but we can hear intricate guitar parts that match the grit of prominent post-rock acts like Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. But Poslesvechenie sounds distinct in their own right. No two songs on this album have the same sound and style.
Their use of a wide range of gears to produce the sounds has resulted in this beautiful complex heavy soundscape that allures its listeners and keeps them mesmerized all throughout the album. It is one of those immersive albums that people buy expensive audiophile equipment to listen to the intricate parts of the songs over a glass of wine on a silent evening. It’s a highly recommended album for anyone who’s into post-rock or instrumental rock music.
