Alignment by Prima Apollinaare: EP Review
The EP ‘Alignment’ by Prima Apollinaare has six songs that do a fantastic job of showcasing the singer-songwriter’s distinctive and evocative voice. The EP draws from life experiences, such as the pandemic, perseverance, and unrelenting love for oneself and dreams. Each track touches on different aspects of love, dreaming, and self-esteem, exploring the various feelings that make up the human experience.
Prima’s beautiful voice soars over sumptuous synth-pop orchestration on the EP’s opening track, “Believe,” which serves as an inspirational and uplifting introduction. Prima’s ability to communicate genuine emotion via her music is shown in the second tune, ‘Deeper In Love’, which is more reflective and upbeat than the first. The standout track on the EP is “High and Low,” which is a resounding ode to resilience and determination. The song features soaring female harmonies that draw the listener in, building in intensity and clarity with each passing moment, eventually coming to its thrilling and energetic chorus. The instrumentals are equally cheerful and catchy, providing a great backdrop for the female vocals to soar above.
The EP was recorded in West Hollywood at Sturdy Studios, with production by notable producer Eren Cannata and engineering by Una Jensen. The process of recording and producing ‘Alignment’ was described as magical and life-enriching by Prima.
If you’re not already a fan of Prima, you will be after giving ‘Alignment’ a spin as the EP showcases the artist’s ability to engage listeners with a potent mix of powerful emotion and uplifting melodies. This EP showcases Prima Apollinaare’s dedication to individuality and originality as an artist, setting her apart from other indie pop musicians.
