Arcade by Pennan Brae: Album Review

The ecstasy of Pennan Braeโs album โArcadeโ grips you from the very first track. Based in Vancouver, the singer-songwriter lets out a joyous essence in his musical pieces. Evident from jangly guitars, upbeat percussions, and a high-spirit vocal presence, the songs from Pennan Brae will thrill you.
The opening of the album made me anticipate what could arrive next. So, the zest of โJettisonโ sparked my intrigue and I was led down a path of groovy rock melodies. Its pattern follows energetic guitar riffs countered by even more enthusiastic vocals and harmonies! If youโre itching for something that could turn a frown upside down or just liven up the day, this song might be up your alley. โRumbleโ is probably the catchiest hook in all of the album. Ascertaining to a few pop structures, the jumpy nature of this song makes you want to dance like a 90s prom night. Also, something about the singing here reminds me of punk rock music, but with a cleaner tone. Overall itโs charming, fresh, and a sure hit.
The album thus far pays tribute to the aesthetic dance rock with a modern twist. Usually, when you see films about teenagers dancing to rock music itโs a part of musical history. However, the trend of vibing out to rock music hasnโt died out and tracks like โShrugโ are here to remind us of that. Brimming with excellent harmonies and lovely guitar embellishments, the transitions only make this number a perfect soundtrack to make large crowds bust out a pirouette or two!
