Bad Guys by Just Scott: Review
Scott Feierstein AKA Just Scott makes 1980s-inspired music flowing with energy and nostalgia. His uplifting song “Bad Guys” is instrumentally polished with synthwave in all its glory. In addition to that, a classic rock vocal bit directs the track’s momentum, and altogether it’s a joy to hear.
The 80s was a culturally significant era that defined a list of tropes still prominent today. Even if it feels like eons ago, its themes are still present in popular media, especially in film and music. Just Scott’s take on the aforementioned genre is charming, and how he blends a personal edge was intriguing to witness! “Bad Guys” has that familiar synthesizer rhythm that pays homage to retro pop and rock music. Aside from that, a wobbly bass accompanies the song giving it a bounce and a touch of pizzazz. The vibe of “Bad Guys” can be an ideal setting for neon cityscapes and rain-soaked streets. It paints quite a picture reminiscent of cyberpunk cinema!
Even in synthwave, the instrumental tones can be classified according to their range and depth. The type of music dominating the YouTube algorithm as of late pertains to a modern setting where the synthesizers are sharper and a bit contemporary. But, in “Bad Guys” a rich widespread definition of synthwave is set. Aligning with the vibrant color of the 1980s pop scene, Just Scott’s musical aura owns that inspiration, and the result is simply breathtaking.
