Hereโs a band that got Game of Thrones star, Maisie Williams involved for the MV of one of their singles. Now, The Zangwills deliver a sparkling summer anthem with their latest single, โBeers With The Beekeeper,โ reproducing the warmth, randomness, and odd intimacy of late-night conversations with strangers.
Released in June 2025, the song is a breezy yet thoughtful reflection on the pub chats that feel like therapyโwith people youโll probably never see again. Built around a charmingly bizarre metaphor of being โstung by loveโ and turning that into a beekeeper narrative, frontman Jake Vickers leans into surreal lyricism to express what you are already familiar with and can connect to at the depths of your own psyche.
โBeers With The Beekeeperโ opens with shimmering guitars that glint like sunlight off pint glasses, underscored by bustling, effervescent drums that propel the track forward with an infectious groove. Vickersโ voice enters soft and sensual, breathy with emotion, before gradually building into something more urgent and soaring. His delivery mirrors the emotional arc of the song itself, starting grounded and intimate, then spiraling into tension, vulnerability, and release. Itโs as if the song is unfolding in real-time, just like one of those drunken, unexpectedly deep conversations at your local.
Recorded at the legendary Voltalab Studios (formerly Cargo Studios) in Rochdaleโa space once frequented by Joy Division and The Stone Rosesโthe track has vintage magic woven into its DNA. Yet, under producer Mark Winterburnโs touch, the sound is polished and expansive without overcomplicating the arrangement. With just a few core instruments and even an early demo that featured a whistled lead riff, the track still manages to sound huge, thanks to clever mixing and emotional clarity.
โBeers With The Beekeeperโ is a standout single from The Zangwills, who are steadily building toward their debut album. Itโs introspective without being heavy, catchy without being shallow, and unmistakably theirsโmuch like the quirky strangers we sometimes find ourselves barstool-philosophizing with at the edge of a night out.
