Big Beet drops groovy song ‘Hope Lies Ahead’
Big Beet, a band from Brooklyn, New York, releases their first song, ‘Hope Lies Ahead’. This song, which features a full choir, a percussion orchestra, and the jubilant sounds of steel drums, is their first production and recording effort. A first release that is epic and groovy and has elements of Caribbean, Latin, and African music is accompanied by hopeful lyrics and a spaceship full of dancing drums. A live video recording of the full percussion and electric quintet performing an instrumental rendition with improvising dancers from the Caribbean and hip hop is included with the release. Zweig also created a stop-motion music video for the band, in which the noble beet, their mascot, and the band are animated as paper drummers in a technicolor landscape.
Taken while there were initial lockdowns. Hope seemed to be gone. Due to the size of the project (synths, more than 80 drum and percussion parts, a full choir, and nature soundscapes recorded in the jungles of southeast Cameroon in 2018), it took almost 3 years to finish mixing and mastering this song. The title took on greater significance as a result of family trauma, an unanticipated injury, surgery, and recovery. Hope can have various meanings. This song aids in finding peace in the discomfort’s constant motion.
