Illuminate by Birdeatsbaby: Review
The song “Illuminate” by Birdeatsbaby is the second single released from their upcoming album HEX. It’s the latest in a string of highly regarded albums by the band that spans more than a decade. The chemistry that they have as a band is very strong and it’s reflected in their hits.
“Illuminate” is a “construct of delicate vocals on a cello, guitars, and subtle, complex drumming,” as the band describes. During the song’s peak, lead singer Mishkin screams the song’s mantra as the music apexes into a raging instrumental.
The band includes four members: Anna Mylee on drums; Hana Piranha on harp, cellos, violins, and vocals; Garry Mitchell on guitar and bass; and Mishkin Fitzgerald on vocals, pianos, and synthesizers. Aside from that they are pretty much independent musically, which Mishkin said in an interview with Llewelyn Screen for A&R Factory.
The track progressively increases in mystery and anticipation until the listener can’t take it any longer, thanks to its stirring rhythm and expanding overall presence. The music falls somewhere between rock and metal, and it also features a significant number of cinematic vibes.
The listeners should check out the album as it’s providing a wide range of sounds and exciting ways of expression in its music; it will definitely be something interesting and new. Here’s a glimpse of the expressive lyricism from this song:
“Weep with me for the dreams that tore,
You know I hold them close in a mind of thorns,
A single seed of determination in this storm.”
