Blaine Sharp releases tuneful new rendition of song โLa vie en roseโ
The second of several recent releases, โLa vie en roseโ, was not always on Sharpโs mind because, as the Canadian singer and songwriter who now calls Southern California home explains, โthere are certain songs that are icons, untouchable.โ
One nagging question for a budding recording artist was, โWhy would anyone be excited for yet another cover of this song?โ This artist is known for creating music that feels timeless but is constantly innovative, drawing listeners who want to broaden their musical horizons beyond more contemporary, tech-heavy genres. If weโre going to do this, we should get rid of all the clichรฉs and make it seem fresh again. This was Sharpโs final conclusion. Accepted the challenge. The recording session included the song.
It was a brilliant move on Sharpโs part to work with Carey Frank, one of LAโs hottest jazz musicians. Sharpโs powerful vocal performance and moving performance are perfectly complemented by Careyโs modern arrangement and deft yet sparse approach at the keyboards (on piano and Hammond organ). Itโs a union made in heaven and the first of many future partnerships.
