The Light by Mark Wink: Review
Mark Wink, the artist moniker of the Austrian producer and songwriter Mark Winkler is a wizard when it comes to creating futuristic music and accompanying music videos. This audio-visual wizard is back with his latest creation ‘The Light’ and it is just as captivating as his previous works if not more.
Starting off with a pulsating beat and a synth melody, this EDM number grows more complex in its sound with layers and layers of synth melodies added as it progresses. With punchy bass, bright synths, and upbeat catchy melodies, it has all the core EDM staples. The addition of female vocal harmonies over the stacked melodies breathes new life to the song. The vocal parts are accentuated by the syncopated melodies sound absolutely fantastic. The percussion parts of the song are in my opinion what separates him from the rest. The complexity of the drums while keeping the sound so organic and balanced is definitely noteworthy. Being the diverse artist Mark Wink is, he throws in some twangy guitar licks in between that go so well with the ongoing melodies.
When it comes to Mark Wink’s songs, you can’t just leave the video out of the discussion. The accompanying music video is a fantastic combination of CGI 3D animation and live-action. It’s futuristic and the visuals are absolutely stunning which goes hand in hand with the sound. The production quality of both the audio and video is clean and top-notch! If you’re a Daft Punk and/or early 2000s EDM fan, Mark Wink is definitely an artist you should check out.
