Boyfriend Hoodie by Fomo: Review

Fomo has brought back memories with their new single ‘Boyfriend Hoodie’ which will make 90’s punk and early 2000’s emo listeners nostalgic. Thumping bass, Grinding Drums, loud guitar riffs, and belting from the top of the lungs- it’s like we are back to the old days.

Fomo is a pop punk band from Montreal, Canada formed in 2019 with the intent to bring back punk rock. Despite the old-school influences, they have managed to create a more polished and sophisticated evolution of the genre. ‘Boyfriend Hoodie’ is an instant hook for loud music lovers. The lyrics are relatable and full of midlife crises but the song is fast-paced and loud as if they are inviting you to a journey where you forget all your worries and lose yourself in the music. ‘Boyfriend Hoodie’ is like an adrenaline rush that will involuntarily make your body move in unnatural ways. The vibe is immaculate with a hint of nostalgia about the old days when people used to spend less time immersed in technologies and go have a great time listening to live music. The musical arrangements are very refreshing and distinct from modern-day pop culture.

‘Boyfriend Hoodie’ is a testament to Fomo’s understanding of the genre and their will to pop-punk music with fresh ideas that draw inspiration from the roots. Fomo has an upcoming LP scheduled for spring 2023 and we couldn’t be more excited for more fresh punk music.
