Irish artist Lex Bucha takes a darker turn with “Paranoid”, a cinematic alternative-pop single that feels like a panic attack wrapped in neon lights. As the first taste of his upcoming EP Dark Mode, the track dives headfirst into the aftermath of betrayal, where sleepless nights, intrusive thoughts, and distorted self-perception blur together into one haunting spiral.
From the opening seconds, the production creates a suffocating atmosphere. Rumbling beats pulse beneath eerie drones and atmospheric breaks, building a tension that never fully releases. The music feels deliberately overwhelming, mirroring the song’s central theme of overthinking until every shadow starts looking familiar. It is the kind of track that pulls listeners into its headspace rather than simply telling them about it.
Lex’s vocal performance is what really sells the descent. His husky, light-toned voice sits low and tense, sounding exhausted by its own thoughts. When he sings, “Are you awake? It’s 3 a.m. / Ceiling talking back to me again,” the scene is instantly vivid: a lonely room, a racing mind, and no escape from either. As the song unfolds, he wrestles with contradictions, wondering whether he is the victim, the villain, or both. The repeated refrain “You got me paranoid” lands with increasing weight each time it returns, less like a hook and more like a confession.
Produced by Liam Geddes, whose résumé spans major international projects, “Paranoid” balances polished electronic production with raw emotional honesty. The cinematic synth textures give it a widescreen feel, but the lyrics keep it painfully personal.
This track captures that unsettling moment when broken trust changes not only how you see other people, but how you see yourself. Dark, immersive, and emotionally bruised, “Paranoid” is a compelling introduction to Lex Bucha’s next chapter.
