Bridges Over Minefields by Ben Street: Album Review
โBridges Over Minefieldsโ was released on November 18, 2022, as a debut solo album. It was produced, composed, mixed, and mastered by Ben Street who also played all the instruments. The album talks about loneliness, loss, and love.
The album starts with โWeak Man, Weak Heartโ and it begins with an overdriven guitar that plays some bluesy licks and solos. The drumming comes next along with the vocalist, who sings openly and with a strong command over his voice. The continuous overdriven guitar rhythm captured the track pretty well, and the simple bass line sounds quite splendid with the compositionโa great start to an album!
โDesertedโ- the second track begins with a bongo drum beat, and, interestingly, the electric overdriven vibrato guitar tune along with full-on drums creates a western atmosphere, to the likes of a track straight out of a Quentin Tarantino film. When everything starts playing together it gives the track a gloomy cowboy feel. With the bluesy voice, the cowboy-style music, and the occasional saxophone composition with the wah-wah guitar solo, it was a moody, yet pleasant song.
The album ends with โSinner.โ Starting with a vibrato-rich electric guitar tune and smooth drumming, the blues-styled vocal follows and changes the setting of the song making it deeper. This song has a bluesy mood track with a western vibe to it.
The album was genuine and he brought new elements to every track. For Blues lovers, itโs a fascinating album to stay hooked on from the very first track till the end.
