Elixir by MDK FLA: Album Review

The music of MDK FLA is an intriguing blend of EDM and Folktronica. Combining vibrant synthesizer melodies with futuristic production, the artist portrays a diversity of sounds in their album “Elixir.” I was captivated by the energy of each vocal sequence and the catchy electronic segments, the feeling should be mutual with anyone!
MDK FLA initiates the album with a flavorful tension. With the second track in particular being a glitchy electronic sensation. Entitled “Triple Threat”, the song’s material involves smooth vocal pieces, followed by a heavy beat. The rest of the track is a remarkable soundscape full of glitch-hop rhythms. As mentioned before, the album also encompasses the genre of folktronica. So, coming across further songs such as “Beacon”, a fruity pop vibe followed by atmospheric synths and beats pertaining to folktronica bloomed. There’s a gloomy presence within the track’s aura, but nonetheless, it was soothing to hear! The next tune “Witches of Arafel” is one minute a folksy acoustic piece, and then does a complete 180 and turns into this EDM-fueled hit. I commend the artist’s creativity to reinvent genres and also implement a vibing fusion.
“True Accord” incorporates some light hip-hop sections with fluid rap verses. Aside from that, the rhythm section here has a bluesy aesthetic and sounds quite trippy. Exiting the album with “Traversing the Ether” brings a surprising twist by introducing the Sitar, an Indian classical instrument to the mix. That was a bit unexpected, but in combination with stellar vocal lines and beats, it felt like an excellent sendoff to the album.
