Brighter (feat. Nik Hughes) by Snakedoctors: Review
The magic of indie rock never takes a step back from melodic enchantment. Rather, it just pushes forward to ensure fans of the genre get a fresh sound from emerging artists. This brings us to the sensation of “Brighter.” It’s an innovative track by Snakedoctors that features Nik Hughes. In it, baritone vocals and clean guitars create an energy that is genuine and draws you in with a pleasant sound.
“Brighter” is what happens when alternative rock and indie music collide for a powerful effect. It comes first and foremost from the vocalists’ presence. At times moody and at other times poetic, the baritone essence of the singer mixes with chill guitar bits and generates an exciting melody. Speaking of excitement, a thrilling guitar solo arrives halfway through the track. It doesn’t shred or explore the neck of the instrument to the core, but rather stays on a minimal course of its own and emits a lovely aura while at it. Sometimes all you need are a few good notes to enliven a piece while shredding and bluesy guitar bits are stunning works of art. Snakedoctors and Nik Hughes have their way of grooving on indie rock, and I’m glad to have crossed paths with these talented musicians.
Snakedoctors remind me a tad bit of early 2000s alternative rock music, particularly those that have a slightly gothic or dark pop tone about them. It takes me back, and it’s pretty nostalgic to witness the influence of those sounds still beautifully portrayed without flaws in “Brighter.”
