Broken Pieces by Gav Moran: Album Review
Human beings are such expressive creatures, and every one of us has an outlet through which emotions flow naturally. Among these feelings, pain is one such that allows musicians to beautifully capture their sentiments and create art. This brings us to Gav Moran’s dark classical album “Broken Pieces,” where each track is layered with an exploration of the self, through moving instrumental pieces.
The warm tone of the piano has always calmed my nerves and led to the pondering of imaginative notions. Add in the intensity of a cello to merge with the instrument, and you’ve got yourselves a classical melody that’ll enchant your heart. These facets are wonderfully captured in tracks such as “Letter to Kyiv” and “Lilium.” It feels that stringed segments were a piece of the artist’s soul, and they added such a powerful essence to the music.
Apart from these aspects, Gav’s album is a perfect construct of cinematic music. And when do we understand a scene to its depth, or perhaps relate with it the most? It is when the score aligns with the emotional stance of each actor and their performance. Thus, songs such as “Tempus” and “Radium” draw us in with their captivating aura, and create a scene worth watching for hours on end. This is achieved through melancholic piano notes and dramatic arrangements alongside gliding stringed pieces. To conclude, please do not miss out on this masterpiece of a record!
