Carrellee releases groovy new song ‘Morning Sun’
Recently, Carrellee released the music video for ‘Morning Sun’. The song is the lead single from ‘Scale of Dreams’, her upcoming album.
Over a wall of scorched synths and processed tapes, Carrellee adds delicately sensual vocals about divorce and desire. She received some assistance from producer Brett Bullion in creating her noir synth-pop sound. While composing the songs for this album, Carrellee began sharing weekly demo videos on social media under the name ‘The Official Unofficial Synth Series’, which attracted nearly one million views on Facebook in 2021.
The 80s new wave icons Cocteau Twins and Kate Bush, as well as a wide range of Italo disco and synthwave artists, are all cited as sources of inspiration for the song ‘Scale Of Dreams’, which conjures crushed artifacts of desire with each instrument processed through crumpled and fried analog tape. In the midst of her divorce, Carrellee had a dream that provided the idea for ‘Morning Sun’. She quickly transcribed it in her home studio in the morning and posted the demo video on Facebook.
