Fresh off the press from Indian River Music Company is Emma Graceโs stunning album, Changing. With soft rock, pop, and introspective lyricism, the album gives us heartfelt relatability.
Changing opens with a coming-of-age anthem, โChange.โ Delicate piano lays the foundation for Graceโs upfront, raw, and vulnerable vocals. She sings with a husky honesty, reflecting on the anxieties of young adulthood: the uncertainty, the fear of speaking up, and the yearning for a simpler time. But amidst the doubt, thereโs a flicker of hope. The chorus tells us that though change is scary, it will be okay anyway.
โStupidโ showcases Graceโs feisty side. With a smug swagger and shaking percussion, she throws shade at a manipulative ex. Her voice drips with righteous anger as she sings sheโs not as clueless as he thinks.
We get an inner look into the artistโs personality with the vulnerable โHeโs Mine.โ This achingly beautiful ballad features a soft, gushing piano that perfectly complements Graceโs tender vocals. Here, she confronts the challenges of finding love and settling love but the one who allows her to be herself will be hers.
One of the best in Changing is the ethereal โI Donโt Know.โ Graceโs voice boasts its versatility as she gets breathy, tender, and rich while echoing with full vocals palpably divine even when in pain. She sings about arriving at the release that comes when you have finally had enough of pain and suffering.
Emma Grace shows off the artist she is, in Changing, with her diaristic, smug, soft, vulnerable, and very self-aware lyrics and complementary instrumentals. Definitely check her out!
