After the darker territory of “Burning,” ANTXNXO shifts gears with “NO ME DIGAS,” a Spanish-language love song that brings his Spanish roots into an intimate alternative R&B setting. Born in Spain and raised in England, the artist writes and produces the track himself, blending Latin influence with contemporary R&B to capture that messy space between attraction, insecurity and the fear of losing someone.
“NO ME DIGAS” opens with hard-hitting beats and deep bass, while calm piano notes soften the edges of the production. That contrast gives the song its character: the rhythm has weight, yet the piano creates an almost vulnerable atmosphere around it. Rather than rushing toward a huge climax, the arrangement lets the tension simmer, making the repeated plea at its centre increasingly hypnotic.
ANTXNXO’s vocal is a big part of that effect. His raspy, gritty, grainy voice brings a roughness to the otherwise smooth production, and he delivers the Spanish lyrics in a deliberately hypnotic manner. There is something almost pleading about his performance as he asks his lover not to tell him that she no longer needs or wants him, or that there is someone else. The repetition of “No me digas” (“Don’t tell me”) becomes less like a conventional chorus and more like a thought he cannot stop circling.
That repetition works because the song is really about denial. He knows what he fears hearing, yet keeps asking for reassurance anyway. Lines describing his lover as beautiful and desirable sit beside the possibility of abandonment, creating a push and pull between infatuation and insecurity.
The production, mixed and mastered by Erim Ahmet, keeps that emotional contradiction intact: heavy enough to feel physical, restrained enough to leave room for the voice. Shot and edited by Erim Ahmet with lighting by RXXAN, the visual side complements the track’s intimate atmosphere.
With “NO ME DIGAS,” ANTXNXO proves he can step away from darkness without losing his edge. Sometimes, after all, the most haunting thing is simply not wanting to hear the truth.
