City Lights by Sharl: Album Review
Sharl goes solo with the release of her album “City Lights”, marking a new phase, unraveling about relationships and her journey as an artist.
We began falling in love with the album with an enticing opener “I Fell In Love”, which is about escaping a toxic relationship where Sharl’s feminine vocals reflect strength in a dancepop rhythm. Slowly building to an upbeat chorus, “Without Me” has Sharl releasing repressed emotions. This electro-disco track is driven by a clattering beat and retro-sounding synth riffs. Sharl’s “Outside” is a pulsating dance-pop tune, which also has its own all-Asian casted music video. It’s a bright song about falling again, with elements reminiscent of club music from the late ’90s. The closing tune, the self-titled track from her album highlights her vocal prowess, refocusing our attention to her craftsmanship. It’s a confidently pulsating piano ballad showcasing her many range of emotions and styles, making it the perfect way to wrap up the album.
Although we concealed our emotions for all the songs, we must tell you that each track certainly has its own identity and eccentricities. Sharl is young, honest and vulnerable, showing a wide spectrum of talents while using pop music in her album “City Lights”.
