Close To The End by The Starkillers: Review
Salt Lake City, Utah’s The Starkillers are a high-energy indie band. The band started up in 2020, and their song “Close To The End” has a soulful, melodious quality that really draws you in. As the band members explained, the song is about the struggle to keep a relationship together despite the fact that it has already begun to fray. You slowly started to see the warning signs and realize the relationship was destined for failure.
The Starkillers pertain to a quality of sound that rejoices in the alternative rock and indie premise. With moody guitars that sound a bit like the Pixies, the overall sound pertains to that feeling of regret and loss. It is an all too familiar feeling that is built in our nerves to react. Eventually, when the song initiates suddenly your brain stimulates all the messages and words more clearly through the heavy bass tone and the remarkably catchy voice of the singer. The lyrics feel quite mysterious but also there’s a warm human element to it. “Close To The End” comes alive through the strong harmonies which will get you hooked.
The guitar and bass had a very sincere sound, which really moved me. It characterizes the boundary between heartbreak and the idyllic flavors of musical ecstasy. If you’ve got a tragic story to tell or you just want to get lost in the calm of loneliness before finally finding peace with a worthy companion, The Starkillers’ “Close To The End” may be just what the doctor ordered to ease your aching nerves.
