Coffee by Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends: Review
After issuing a series of singles and a double album in 2021, singer and guitarist Alien Friend’s solo endeavor Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends is back with a 4-minute track “Coffee”. It is a smooth, fluid, melodic trip that isn’t short on excitement or a moving groove, and it says a lot about the musician’s skill and the band’s production values.
The song begins with a simple mournful oriental orchestration, which is quickly followed by a groove fest featuring powerful trumpets and fast bass, which forms the song’s memorable chorus. The verse then drifts into a more melodic fluid verse, showcasing storytelling delivery and layering vocal harmonies, and these melodies take over control until the end of the song. Honestly, I absolutely love the chaotic energy in the sound and even in the lyrics. The part I resonate with the most is:
“Don’t want to hear them when they start to shout
There is only one thing that I truly care about
Get a cup of coffee, got to, got to get it
I got to get a cup of coffee, got to, got to, got to get it”
Arn-identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends speaks my mind because there’s no better way to say that no matter what’s going on around me, all I need is my cup of coffee, in a solid melodic journey.
