Ascension by Pistols At Dawn: Album Review

Pistols At Dawn’s new album Ascension was released not too long ago, proving that they’re more than just a ‘hard rock’ band. The band remains genre-bending to create their own sound, and so I can’t wait to review their new music for y’all!
The band takes on the challenge with energetic rhythm and fiery vocals in “Keep Me Guessing”. Before this, “Under the Surface” has a catchy groove and rich riff sound, while you can hear an enormous chorus in “Fly”. Keeping it more soulful and melodious in “Before For You,” listeners may get a tad bit emotional. “The Truth” and “Gravity” have a gloomy, signature groove. The first, featuring vocalist Chris Hodges, has a late transition that leads to a killer guitar solo and the latter has a serrated bass tone and head-banging vocals. “Get Away” has moody lines while the chorus is joyful and kickass, making this one of those songs you’d want to tune into frequently. And then the concluding song “Dictator” is a final bang of hard rock where Pistols at Dawn draws a grand finale with gritty vocals, and a boisterous blast.
The band raised the bar as their album Ascension blends rock, metal, grunge, and progressive, providing eight top-shelf bangers. The majority of the tracks are promising with somewhat brief guitar solos giving them all a memorable edge. The album is so well done, full of addictive instrumentals, gritty vocals, and outstanding lyrics, making Pistols At Dawn the jaw-dropping band of the era.
