Colin drops blazing new track ‘Wish I’d Met You Before Summer Ended’
The band Colin just put out their first official single, ‘Wish I’d Met You Before Summer Ended’. Although the name remained the same, every song prior was from Colin’s solo project. ‘Wish I’d Met You’ perfectly captures the feeling of disappointment at what the long-awaited summer brought. Lyrically telling the tale of two failed lovers who couldn’t manage their relationship to work out properly emphasizes that you expected it to turn out to be much more exciting and fulfilling than it actually was. The protagonist, the lyricist whose point of view the song is written from, has no choice but to attribute it to poor timing. “What if we had met before the summer ended and we could have worked something out? Perhaps before it even began? What if the entire summer had been spent with each other? Would that have altered anything?” All the while having the song’s upbeat instruments supporting them. It has a sense of familiarity about it that makes us feel nostalgic. It retains a surprisingly new and fresh overall feel while giving off the impression that you’ve known it from somewhere.
Colin (vocals, guitar) and Jonas make up the Indie-Pop duo “colin,” which is based in Cologne (Drums, Keys). Their sound is a blend of alternative, soft rock, and indie pop. They are constantly on the lookout for ways to bring listeners moving and meaningful lyrics and music. Colin uses a lot of atmospheres, playful vocals, washed-out guitars, eerie synthesizers, and drums that are produced with energy and vitality.
