CRANIOTØMY by SØUNDHOOSE: Album Review
SØUNDHOOSE, are a Los Angeles-based punk rock trio with a melodic spirit you just can’t back down from. This fantastic band is made up of members Jeremy Bauer, Paul Burns, and Brandon Smith. Altogether, they form a rebellious sound in the rock album “CRANIOTØMY.”
The album opens up with the anthemic pieces “Ghosted” and “Runner.” Both paint a vivid picture of 2000s punk, when the genre was at its peak. SØUNDHOOSE creates a resonant tone through overdriven guitar riffs and an infectious vocal passage that grabs your attention. The band has a lively presence on the album, however with more slow-paced tunes such as “Deep End” calming us down. Deep guitar segments intertwine with a poetic vocalist along with atmospheric drumming. The next track, “The Burns Effect” was a stunner. It has a unique aura through electronica and hard rock. The synergy is lovely and hypes you immensely. Upon hearing “Save Me” a nostalgic wave of pop-punk hit me. It pays homage to industry legends such as Blink-182 and Sum 41. Particularly, the song’s lively guitar and vocal pieces are reminiscent of the good old days of the genre.
“Just A Name” has wild guitar riffs that resonate with a lovely cadence. The tone has a sharp distortion that’s pretty clean and hearing each lead and rhythm portion put a smile on my face. The album concludes with the soft acoustic piece “Mood Swings.” It’s a beautiful ending with bass and acoustic guitars.
