Dominick Raffaele navigates through the wreckage of failed relationships and the pressures of a burgeoning career in his latest EP, Damaged released on March 31.
The EP kicks off with “Run,” a haunting ballad that explores the anguish of a love that refuses to die. Against a backdrop of gentle piano melodies, Raffaele’s emotive vocals soar as he grapples with the pain of longing for someone who keeps returning only to leave again. It’s a poignant opening track that sets the tone for the EP’s introspective journey.
Next up is “Giving to Ghosts,” a powerful and poetic reflection on the emotional toll of investing in relationships that ultimately fade away. The song builds gradually, with strings and synths immersing you in what feels like clinking glass and shimmering tiles in the lone. The song builds to its crescendo with thumping drums. Meanwhile, Raffaele’s falsetto vocals fuel the vulnerability as he laments the disappearance of those he once held dear.
Closing out Damaged is “Eyes on Me,” the most realistic of the three. Tender piano keys underscore Raffaele’s heartfelt lyrics as he delves into the struggles of feeling inadequate and misunderstood. Relating to the pressures of men and to the way you get weighed down by expectations he bares his soul in this song. With his voice surging with frustration, he asks, “Am I out of time?”
With minimal production, Dominick Raffaele shows that music only needs to be sung, played and heard from the heart in his EP, Damaged.
