Damnin by PRPL NRG: Review
PRPL NRG, (pronounced Purple Energy) is a multi-talented music producer most recognized for the unorthodox combination of hip hop and techno melodies he creates. His first single, “Damnin,” features Argyle Bixby, a member of the grime movement in Miami, Florida. ‘Damnin’ is the artists’ first single.
The song starts off with a dark bass intro, leading to a brutal beat drop. The rhythm and overall vibe feel like walking through a gangsta neighborhood. The flow of the lyrics is of a very ruthless tone within the verse. Indeed, one cannot deny the powerful rap exchange between the two artists. It is absolute fire and resonates with me on a spiritual level. The track is savage and has a fierce presence. Also, the instrumental elements make me feel like an absolute boss. This is what an epic soundtrack feels like. Leave this on full volume at yo momma’s house, and I guarantee there is a 100% chance that a party’s gonna show up. It will be a lit story to tell for the ages.
The lyrical poetry and rapping style are very authentic and feel like an ode to old-school hip hop. My favorite portion is that killer bass that keeps following the track. One of the many moments where I listen to an artist and I feel like heck, I wish I composed this! PRPL NRG’s music will invigorate the listener since it is always associated with a powerful aura that he exudes.
