Pablo Langaine’s new single “DECADENCIA,” the title track of his upcoming EP, is a sweeping, emotional, raw, immersive, and achingly beautiful journey. From the moment it begins, the song grips you with its vivid, powerful guitar strumming and a steady, thumping drumbeat revving up an undercurrent of urgency. Above it all soars Langaine’s thick, resonant voice, animated, rich, and steeped in emotion.
There’s a visceral energy to how he sings. His voice trails like smoke over the instrumental, yet never loses its weight. Langaine sings as if each word costs him something, and you feel that cost with every note. His performance transmits pain, defiance, and unshakable spirit as the lyrics carry themes of collapse, transformation, and survival which are perfectly encapsulated in the title Decadencia, or “decadence,” evoking beauty and decay.
Musically, Langaine balances the cinematic with the intimate. The arrangement builds slowly, layering textures, ambient guitars, crashing cymbals, and moments of stillness that let the emotion breathe. This is where his artistry shines: in the ability to stretch a soundscape without losing its emotional thread. You hear echoes of Gustavo Cerati’s haunting melancholia, Jeff Buckley’s emotional vulnerability, and the Britpop grandeur of Noel Gallagher, within which Langaine’s voice, both literal and artistic, remains his own.
As the EP’s first single, “DECADENCIA” sets the tone for what’s shaping up to be an ambitious and introspective body of work. Stay tuned for more.
