DEFACING GOD TO PUBLISH THE RESURRECTION OF LILITH ALBUM IN SEPTEMBER
With their hauntingly dark and energizingly honest first album, The Resurrection Of Lilith, due out on September 2 via Napalm Records, extreme melodic death metal upstarts Defacing God commands attention. The album demonstrates Defacing God’s goal to enchant metal listeners all around the world with their sound cosmos and is a multilayered, bleak, and bludgeoning escape that effortlessly traverses the arc between primal death metal and symphonic grandiosity.
The Danish band’s conceptual themes center on the pervasive darkness that permeates us all. This darkness is rooted in occultism and witchcraft, but most notably in the mythologically enigmatic female demon Lilith and her tales of fervent defiance and endurance.
Defacing God have revealed their debut single, “Rise Of The Trinity,” accompanied with a blazing official music video, to begin this hellish chapter. Sandie “The Lilith” Gjrtz, the song’s standout vocalist, begins the song with a doom-tinged beginning before quickly transitioning into a blackened masterpiece. A powerful guitar solo and engulfing symphonics continue to advance, creating an epic song honoring female strength and sisterhood.
The lyrics of the song insult God: “The message of ‘Rise Of The Trinity’ is to catch up on the three previous tunes, ‘the invocations,’ and bind them together – The three of us will let our essence free, come to a conclusion, and reclaim our pride on the basis of this song, which brings together the sisters of blood and flesh (Abyzou, Jezebel, and Lilith). All of our buried sisters, kindred witches who were never given a voice throughout time and history, are represented by the trinity as a kind of catalysator. Strong, knowledgeable women have been killed, molested, executed, and subjected to other forms of cruelty simply because the herd was intimidated by their knowledge and independent nature. This trinity sends a clear message that we are stronger when we stand together as well as the voice of resistance and retaliation in the name of the martyrs.

The band transports their audience into a gloomy world of forgotten mythology, folklore, and old tales through narrative, music, and aesthetic, all the while incorporating often-subtle lyrical inspirations from contemporary societal oppressions and personal demons. Lars Vinther’s epic orchestration gives Defacing God’s music a unique sonic twist while also evoking the sounds of Cradle of Filth, Carach Angren, and Dimmu Borgir. However, the band openly combines these auras with infernal death metal rather than mixing it with a traditional dose of black metal. Jacob Hansen, famed for his work with Fleshgod Apocalypse, Volbeat, Evergrey, Epica, and numerous others, also produced The Resurrection Of Lilith.
According to Defacing God, the stories “draw similarities to both the ancient and modern worlds, where many people (Lilith’s point of view: women) still struggle for justice and freedom. a world where people are still subjected to oppression and exploitation because to their gender, race, or religious beliefs. Society enslaves us in so many different ways that it’s difficult to fathom and imagine. Additionally, “Lilith” advocates establishing solid relationships, much as we do in the metal community. The goal of Lilith is to spread the word that by uniting our might, standing free, and adopting the proper attitude, we can change the world. Everyone should be free to be their unique, independent selves, to explore, and to express themselves in any way they choose without fear of rejection or repression in the name of art.
