Ofir Sandler’s new single “deserve it,” out June 26th, is a gleaming slice of indie rock that wraps biting social commentary inside a sultry, head-bobbing package. Hailing from the Middle East and now rooted in Liverpool’s vibrant music scene, Sandler makes a strong case for why her name deserves a place on your radar. This track incisively and sexily critiques modern moral dissonance.
“deserve it” opens with a deliciously creamy, yet smug and sly guitar line. It draws you in before Sandler’slush, relaxed, and subtly commanding voice slides in. Her smooth, rich, and a little cheeky tone is like strawberry cream melting over warm vinyl, thanks to that luscious voice. As she delivers lines that reflect on the hypocrisy of selective activism and lost empathy, her vocal delivery purrs, questions, and seduces. This protest song is swaying in a dive bar without even realizing you’re being called out.
The production is tight and immersive. The groove never lets up, but it also knows when to step back and let Sandler’s lyrics linger. The bridge bursts with restless energy—sensational guitar licks flirt with bustling drums, and her vocals soar effortlessly over it all like she’s simultaneously teasing and scolding the world. It’s a happy-sounding track with a tragic thesis.
With “deserve it,” Ofir Sandler makes a point just when we need it in this increasingly dystopian world.
