“Diary of a Flame” is a six-track long EP which is an ode to Jess Abran’s childhood. The moment you put your earbuds on, it will be like entering a time machine and going through an emotional journey back in time, experiencing again the melancholy of the friendships you thought would last, young love, heartbreak, and grief of losing something precious.
Originating from Quebec, Canada, Jess Abran is a multifaceted musical artist who has been in this cut-throat industry from a young age and has even joined forces with other well-known musical artists. This EP is like a personal diary, putting those achievements aside and allowing us to explore Jess’s real vulnerability before fame.
Jess has an alluring sound; her vocals are gritty yet seductive at the same time, which we hear in the opening track “Character Cliche,” a song about heartbreak in young long. “Lonesome Tonight” is built upon being stripped back with emotional lyrical storytelling and haunting “oohs,” which adds to the emotional impact.
“Make Me Float” is about wanting to rise from the drowning world problems of youth. “Diary of a Flame” comes to a close with “That Song,” written by guitarist Michael Riechel, this track takes us back in time to Jess’s high school self.
Listen to ‘Diary of a Flame” to immerse yourself with spine-chilling vocals and rich lyrical storytelling.
