After breaking the record with her release “Sink in Solitude” which gained over 8 thousand streams, “Do You Miss Me Yet?” is a stunning new addition to the world by UK-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Raven Shelley.
The song is full of indie folk with panache and a passionate fold, a beautiful mixture of emotionally soaked lyrics and Raven’s superb vocal range, evoking a young Kate Bush of our time that produces a surreal ambiance and aural character with fleeting arrangement and production. The piano, percussion, and acoustic guitar all come together well in this acoustic single. The lyrics, however, mask a tougher, angrier, and more pissed-off attitude, despite the fact that the music is calming with a sweet lilt. Overall, the simple soundscape of “Do You Miss Me Yet?” lends it extra depth. Growing up, Raven was passionate about English literature and all that Shakespearean jazz in the south of France, which inspired her to write songs that may be considered poetry. No wonder she is mature and respectful of authenticity! She’s certainly unconventional, and her music, which reflects her nomad spirit, is more original than the mainstream fare we’re used to hearing nowadays.
Raven Shelley might be new to the music scene, having released only two tracks so far, but she has the makings of a rising solo artist and plays in a band as well. I believe her talents are still untapped, so I’d encourage y’all to tune into her and check out her socials to stay updated.
