Don’t Ask Why by Jaw Talk: Review

Jaw Talk is an artist whose bright and funky track “Don’t Ask Why” should definitely be on top of your “feel-good” playlist. From the very moment the first chord strikes, to the gentle beat of the drum, this 80s-style indie rock tune is truly riveting. By the looks of it, I’m gonna have a blast listening to the track over and over.
The song incorporates jangly guitar chords and a singer who’s truly on their game. They’d involve passionate anthems in the track where the title is sung over and over. Doing so creates a wonderful aura that is easy to follow and chant. As for the instrumentation, I was pleasantly moved by how well the synths mixed with the guitar bits. It had this punchy distorted tone that was not too heavy and not too mellow, just right. The riff structure was also quite brilliant, it feels like the bar-chords truly uplifted the chorus’s passage. Eventually, some light keys enter the mix for a more atmospheric feeling.
As mentioned before the track incorporates an 80s-style indie rock aura. It’d be a crime not to notice the vintage appeal of “Don’t Ask Why.” Just something about the song’s youthful and energetic essence reminds you of a daylight concert back in the old days, and everyone’s vibing along to the rhythm with arms held high. In my opinion, the track’s chorus section is the true highlight. Singing along to the tune is perfectly balanced, and indeed a joyful ode.
