Costa Rican band Terra Nai breaks new ground with their third single, “El Tiempo se Acaba,” released on September 8, 2025. The track marks their first international collaboration, featuring the commanding vocals of Spanish musician José Carballido from A Sombra dos Soños. It also represents Terra Nai’s bold step from folk rock into the fiery realm of folk metal. Produced by Marco Castro, Gazel, and Diego Alfaro, the song follows the band’s previous works “Ojos Llenos de Luna” and “La Marcha de los Desamparados,” extending their exploration of humanity’s fractured relationship with nature. Lyrically, it continues the environmental narrative introduced in their 2024 reimagining of “Cambia el Mundo,” serving as a rallying cry to awaken collective responsibility before it’s too late.
From the first note, “El Tiempo se Acaba” commands attention. The song opens with the piercing wail of the Galician gaita (bagpipe), immediately colliding with distorted electric guitars and thunderous drums. It comes intensely ancient and apocalyptic, fusing Celtic heritage and modern metal ferocity. As the track builds, Carballido’s rich, gritty voice joins Diego Alfaro’s, the two vocalists intertwining in a dramatic exchange that feels like a battle between hope and despair.
The lyrics unfold as a lament from a wounded Earth — a mother betrayed by her children. Lines like “Ella le da de comer, ella le da de beber… y él matándola está” (“She feeds him, she gives him drink… and he’s killing her”) slices the music with emotional force. In the bridge, the tempo dips briefly as the soundscape comes up for air, like a haunting calm before being pushed down again, like a final eruption of sound where the vocals soar and the guitars blaze in defiance.
“El Tiempo se Acaba” is a ritual, and a rebellion. Terra Nai and Carballido deliver a cinematic anthem that burns with urgency, fusing tradition and rebellion into one unforgettable roar.
