Electronic Spirit is the long-awaited debut album by UK electronic experimental artist Truth Lamp, the musical project of Jamie Shavdia. Known for his multifaceted career as a psychotherapist, mindfulness teacher, and hypnotherapist, Jamie’s deep understanding of the human condition comes through in this evocative release. The album through the highs and lows of life is designed to challenge, uplift, and move the listener.
Recorded at Truth Lamp Studios in Colchester and mixed and mastered by the legendary Seppa, the album boasts a polished yet experimental sound.
Opening with “Awakening,” the album immediately bursts to life with glistening synths, hard-hitting beats, and exhilarating rushes of sound. The distorted vocals add an enigmatic allure, fulfilling it as a club anthem. Tracks like “Intelligence – Remastered” explore deeper themes, delving into AI’s evolution. What starts with ethereal, transcendent vocalizations echoing turns to bustling mecha electronic textures and hard thumps punching into crashing rhythms.
“Earth Mother” shifts gears, offering a brooding rhythm section overlaid with haunting synths that shimmer with serenity, gravitas and power. Meanwhile, in the immersive haunting soundscape of “Sands of Time,” the closer, the drums thump hard and march forward with determination and intimidating gallops. Shimmering layers of synth and a hazy fog join the trod, along with the occasional soulful female voice, making the song feel powerful and prophetic.
Largely instrumental, Electronic Spirit draws from cinematic soundscapes, weaving textures that evoke a sense of immersion akin to a movie score. Truth Lamp’s influences—ranging from electronic pioneers like Aphex Twin and Orbital to The Prodigy—are evident in the album’s richly layered compositions.
