Singer/Songwriter Musician/Producer of โThe Mess Ageโ Glen Brandon โ Ziggy โ has worked alongside Bowie, Duran Duran, Iggy Pop Producer Colin Thurston and some of the best Rock musicians and โworld renowned music producersโ in the world, his current projects are two new albums โMake The Peaceโ and โAge Of Messโ both albums written, produced, performed, and arranged by Glen himself, a brilliant lyricist with reality based themes of todays modern โEnd Timesโ scenarioโs, commercial uplifting Anthemic spiritual vibes, alongside hooky powerful melodies. a real songwriter who writes โ timeless tracks โ that you not only hear but you see them appearing within the windows of your mind. 1. Your roots can often shape your journey. Can you share a story or moment from your early life that had a significant impact on your path into music?
The Mess:Age: firstly i want to start by saying โlove and light to allโ WOW thats a great opening Q, as the are so many momentโs and stories to tell, as in Homerton Hackney East London, i grew up in my Parents Pub where there was a stage,
and many famous actors, pop stars, even rock stars, use to frequent the pub, i made friends with all of them of coarse, not naming no names as in fact there are way too many to mention,
{maybe i should write a book one day? as growing up in those pubs with world-renowned pop stars as friends obviously had a huge influence upon me, however from birth music was instinctively naturally engrained within my D.N.A, as i took up firstly playing drums and piano, then eventually guitar and singing, being self taught.
2. Did your musical journey begin with formal training, or was it more of a personal exploration? How has that shaped your unique approach to your craft?
The Mess:Age: as mentioned, being self taught, and being that iโm not one to follow trends, as a rebellious child, freedom was always at the forefront and my motto, although James dean i must admit did have a huge influence upon me
which later created โa rebel in music with a causeโ, and an anti-authoritarian, and id say quite proudly john Lydon style with a slightly smoother spiritual edge, LOL, my music is created from witnessing real life eventโs and turning the negative ones to positive, and some as a warning to others,
i like to see The Mess:Age Music as a beacon of uplifting hope, torch and spotlight exposing the bad without mercy, and as Almighty Gods Messenger.
3. Who were some of the most influential figures in your early musical life, and how did they inspire your sound? Also, whatโs the story behind choosing the name โThe Mess:Ageโ?
The Mess:Age: your Qs are fantastic, easy answer, KATE BUSH, DAVID BOWIE, ROXY MUSIC, BILLY JOEL, TOTO , VAN HALEN, ROLLING STONES, THIN LIZZY, DEEP PURPLE, WISHBONE ASH, BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST, JOURNEY, JOAN ARMATRADING, SARAH MCLACHLAN , PHIL COLLINS, THE CARS, THE POLICE, CREED , ALTERBRIDGE ,QUEEN, TOM JONES, JHONNY CASH, LANA DEL REY, TIFT MERRIT, MAZZY STAR, [ did i miss anybody out? ha ha, as thereโs so many fantastic very talented unique Artists over the years and my musical taste, as you can see is quite vast, as they are all contributing factors rolled into one. [ The Mess:Age Name speaks for itself as its a double meaning, for are we not now living in the AGE OF MESS? [ hence also the title of the 2nd Album ]
4. What do you believe sets your music apart? How would you describe your sound to someone discovering you for the first time, and what emotions or experiences do you hope to evoke in your listeners?
The Mess:Age: The Mess:Age Music is unique because itโs solely wholly written recorded performed and produced by myself ALL FOUR ALBUMS [ 2 more forthcoming ] ITS FUNNY WHEN YOU RELEASE SONGS THEY ASK YOU QUESTIONS LIKE โ WHAT OTHER ARTIST DO YOU SOUND LIKE โ OR WHAT CATEGORY DOES The Mess:Age COME INTO? and on occasions depending upon the song track sometimes i find it hard to place, as its a kind of combination between indie Commercial Visual Pop/Rock with a Spiritual leaning Flower-Power Christian Edge,? i think thats the best way to describe it? โฆwhats your view? as i hope to Evoke A RETURN TO GODLINESS, BACK TO NATURE, INNER SPIRITUAL STRENGTH, ONE OF PEACE, LOVE , TOLERANCE, WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING, THAT WE ARE ALL THE SAME โ CHILDREN OF THE DAWN โ IMMORTAL SPIRIT LIVING IN VESSELS UPON A CYCLIC JOURNEY WITHIN THE VIBRATIONAL REALMS OF MOTHER GAIA, โONEโ under Gods Sun } a forthcoming track single plug plug LOL.
5. For most artists, originality is first preceded by a phase of learning and, often, emulating others. What was this like for you? How would you describe your own development as an artist and music maker, and the transition towards your own style, which is known as ROCK?
The Mess:Age: i think that question can be answered quite simply by saying that you have to witness and experience lifeโs offeringโs boldly and with an open mind, which then in turn tends to uniquely mould and engrain the fragment of your own being, style personality and human nature and in this way within the purest form of truth and innocence, then try to place your thoughts energy and craft into words and Music laying yourself open and bare and in all honesty I.E LETTING GO.
6. Music often transcends entertainment. Whatโs your view on the role and function of music as political, cultural, spiritual, and/or social vehicles โ and do you try and affront any of these themes in your work, or are you purely interested in music as an expression of technical artistry, personal narrative, and entertainment?
The Mess:Age: iโm overjoyed at that Qย as The Mess:Age captivates ALL THE ABOVE, AND SO MUCH MORE ROLLED INTO ONE, for i like to โPAINT SONGSโ as i would like the audience to not only feel its Vibrational Power and energy, but i want them to see my songs, to Evoke pictures within their minds, so that in a timeless manner, generationโs to come, may learn from hearing the Voice of The Mess:Age crying out in the dark, for music is a very powerful un-seen force and has in fact been used against humanity by authoritarian rulers and certain Record Labels โto this dayโ, as a weapon to brainwash the masses, and to divide and weaken us All.
7. Do you feel the rewards of your musical career match the energy and passion you invest in it, or are there different kinds of fulfilment youโre still seeking?
The Mess:Age: if i could Change only one Beautiful human beings precious life, with My Mess:Age in Music, then in turn i can Change the world, for this is the ONLY reward i seek. [ โCHANGEโ another forthcoming single TO BE RELEASED SOONโฆWATCH THIS SPACE.]
8. Can you walk us through your creative process? From the first spark of an idea to the finished track, whatโs the most essential part of your process, and how do collaboration or external influences shape your work?
The Mess:Age: THATS A HARD Q, as each song track is different , and manifests itself in different ways, there is no particular process, as the Chemistry comes from within ones own self, and from channelling into the ether, i have a very acute mindset, especially as a universal Spiritualist and pureblood, and with my Pineal Gland i like to think still intact, as i sometimes pick up on Words Phrases or Vibrationโs in everyday life, that then on occasions become titles of a songs and pen to paper, โ i channel โ [ Vibrationsโs Song } another forthcoming Release plug plug,LOL
9. Whatโs been the most challenging hurdle in either your personal life or music career, and how has it shaped you as an artist?
The Mess:Age: The Ignorance of others who refuse to awaken to Truth, for it is they who are responsible for bringing humanity to its knees, and for me personally this is a challenge as id like to break through their impregnable mindset and awaken and enlighten them all through the power of The Mess:Age Music, and as an example, my own father, certain friends and family members, like to literally live within their own Bubble I.E { NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY } glorifying in ignorant fashion, in denial, absolutely refusing to ever listen or open their eyes to see Truth, which in turn is very torturously frustrating, especially when you love them so much.
10. On the flip side, what moment or achievement in your career so far has made you feel the proudest, and why? And letโs talk about your latest release and future plans.
The Mess:Age: i have many musical achievements, especially helping others along the way [ Signed Acts ] and working alongside world-renowned Bowie/iggy/Duran Duran Producer Colin Thurston { who was my mentor } a genius, kind beautiful friend whom i dearly miss to this day, he produced a song track written by myself entitled โPAINโ which ended up on HOLD with the late great Tina Turner, { sadly never got Released } as she passed away, it was then offered to Barbra Streisand as i chased her down when she was staying at the SAVOY HOTEL IN LONDON, i still have her signed written letter to this day, iโm also proud of MR W.H.O 86.000 streams to date and rising, iโm currently in the studio writing recording and finishing the 3rd and forth Albums, as for my latest Release SACRIFICE, it is being aired upon ALL Streaming Platforms,Global Music T.V Radio Stations SAT/DAB Networks, as well as the ground breaking Audio/Visual podcast, โSPOT RADIO SHOWโ Starting on the 21st Sept.
11. With social media having a heavy impact on our lives and the music business in general, how do you handle criticism, haters, and/or naysayers in general? Is it something you pay attention to, or simply ignore?
The Mess:Age: i have never ever had a negative or bad word ever spoken about The Mess:Age, i have only ever received praise Love appreciation and encouraging compliments, and even if i did, i would only feel pity for those opposing or not liking my work, for eventually i know in the end, that even they will come to understand and awaken, โfor even devils have hearts ya know?โ
12. Creative work in a studio or home environment, or interaction with a live audience? Which of these two options excites you most, and why?
The Mess:Age: they are both equally rewarding, as without massaging any ego, its rewarding to create something that derives from the essence of the human Heart and soul, and that just hopefully might help to Change the consciousness of humanity towards a more positive outlook and Vibe.
13. Do you think is it important for fans of your music to understand the real story and message driving each of your songs, or do you think everyone should be free to interpret your songs in their own personal way?
The Mess:Age: Absolutely it is important for The World to understand The Mess:Age song tracks, however they are written without complexity, therefore very easy to listen to, but hey, โfeel free to interpret them as you wishโ, most do though Thank God โcommon sense prevailโโฆ.
