Tones And I, the global sensation, has returned with her new track “Eyes Don’t Lie,” which is available now on all streaming platforms.

The single is Tones And I’s first new music since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, Welcome To The Madhouse. “Eyes Don’t Lie,” which is accompanied by an official music video created by Tones And I, Nick Kozakis, and Liam Kelly, shows the Australian musician letting go of a toxic relationship and forging on through the ruins.
Tones And I elaborated on the new single, saying, “The song ‘Eyes Don’t Lie’ is about a significant loss of someone or something. Resenting the person or feeling you’re experiencing and realize it was all along a toxic person or feeling. Someone is exploiting you, and you are exploiting yourself. You’re feeling much better now, and you’ve put the last vestige of bitterness behind you.” She went on to say about the song’s accompanying video, “The music video portrays someone who is alone but not lonely. Even when it’s finished, escaping something that hurt and being delighted to be somewhere else. Before I move on, I’m still pondering and expressing my story one last time.”
Tones And I will embark on a string of worldwide festival appearances this summer, including appearances at Mexico’s Tecate Emblema Festival, the Netherlands’ Pinkpop Festival, Spain’s Mad Cool Festival, and others.
Before flying across the Atlantic for the North American part of her headline tour, which kicks off July 23rd in Philadelphia, PA [complete tour schedule below], Tones And I will make a handful of headline European engagements in Belgium, France, Austria, and the United Kingdom. Welcome To The Madhouse, which was released in July, opened at #1 on Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart, continuing Tones And I’s remarkable run of success. From busking in Byron Bay to international celebrity to bidding farewell to her best friend, the album chronicles an extremely honest and colorful experience. Tones And I is a powerful and mesmerizing 14-track compilation composed entirely by the Australian singer, with her co-producing each song.
The track “Fly Away,” a poetic and dramatic composition that Tones And I performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, is the album’s highlight. Welcome To The Madhouse also includes “Won’t Sleep,” which was released alongside an official music video directed by Tones And I, Nick Kozakis, and Liam Kelly, and “Cloudy Day,” which was hailed by VARIETY as “the perfect pandemic anthem” after Tones And I performed it on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and TODAY.
With her global breakthrough “Dance Monkey,” the most Shazamed single of all time and officially the 3rd most played song of all time on Spotify, Tones And I blasted into pop culture’s consciousness, making the track the most streamed song ever by a female artist on the platform. The official music video for “Dance Monkey” has surpassed 1.8 billion views on YouTube since its release, while the track has surpassed seven billion streams worldwide and earned 6x platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in the United States, as well as multi-platinum or diamond certification in sixteen other countries.
In addition, “Dance Monkey” reached #4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 list, marking the first time in almost eight years that a female-written song has reached the top five. “Dance Monkey” holds the all-time record for the most weeks spent at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart in Australia, and “Dance Monkey” has made Tones And I the longest-running #1 by a female artist on the Official Singles Chart in the United Kingdom. In their Diary of a Song video series, the New York Times documented the development of “Dance Monkey,” speaking with Tones And I about her path from local busker to global success.
Tones And I’s RIAA gold-certified debut EP The Kids Are Coming includes “Dance Monkey,” which earned her four major accolades at last year’s ARIA Awards, including “Breakthrough Artist,” “Best Female Artist,” “Best Pop Release,” and “Best Independent Release.” Following the EP’s release, Tones And I performed “Dance Monkey” and standout song “Never Seen The Rain” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Vocals, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and The Today Show, showcasing her incredible voice.
Tones and I, from from Australia’s Mornington Peninsula, arrived to Byron Bay in early 2018 to try busking. Crowds spilled out onto the street on the first day. Tones abandoned her retail job and moved to Byron, where she spent a year living out of her van, polishing her songwriting skills and busking every weekend. With her global smash “Dance Monkey,” she had one of the most popular songs in the world a year later.
