Foot on the Pedal by 5ON5: Review
Following their radio success, the German band is out with their new single named Foot on the Pedal. Speaking to the man on the brink this song reaches out to everyone struggling and connects deeply.
The song starts with an acoustic guitar and builds up on a programmed industrial beat. The deadpan delivery of the vocal gives the song a gloomy atmospheric touch. When it the song builds up to its hook the beat, the synth gets really dark and heavy and the vocals sing about hope amidst this doom and gloom. Midway through the song after the hook, the song hides a nice surprise in the form of a rap verse. This part very much sounds like an inner monologue of someone struggling but won’t accept defeat, rather he says everything’s fine and moves along.
Upon hearing this track, their record label CEO commented he thinks they’ve outplayed Kanye on this one. Having a dark atmosphere, the song portrays the hardship of one’s struggles. But no matter how hard things get, one can always find a way out and pass on this message of hope to others with the same struggles. The band did a really excellent job at not only portraying the struggles but also sending this message of hope in a way everyone can relate and also shows their craftsmanship of the art.
Quotable Lyrics:
“I had to pass on the message
being unsurpassed in finding a passage
from me to them
and hand over hand over an invisible line
makin’ my call sayin’ everything’s fine”
