Get A Life by Doll Riot: Review
Doll Riot’s ‘Get A Life’ is the perfect anthem for a psycho ex-girlfriend who will follow you to the earth’s end and go out of her way to destroy you. After wreaking havoc with their debut album ‘Doll Riot’, the 4-piece all-girl garage rock band released the modern punk rock single. It’s timed a little above 2 minutes but is packed with the band’s usual chaotic energy, bringing layered and strong vocals narrating teenage drama, stabbing guitars, and superb stereo and rapid drum work, which, I believe deserves a round of cheer on its own! The guitars rip through you like a live wire of electricity, while the drums slam into your muscles with its bold beat. The song’s infectiously head-bopping melody and its catchy chorus delivered by engaging and retro-esque vocals will captivate you in no time! In fact, you might want to tune back to their debut album for one more groove!
Doll Riot’s combination of post-modern grunge, punk, and rock from the ’90s will pierce through your heart in an instant, as they take over with their unrepentant style, influenced by real-life teen conflict. The all-powerful gang comprises of Elena Olszak (vocalist and guitarist), Ella Sauer on guitar, London Kraus on bass and the talented Lillee Gillum on the drums. What gives this garage rock band their edge is the blend of nostalgia with unmistakable modern spirits.
