Released April 18, 2025, โHeadspaceโ marks the fourth single from Toronto-based alt-pop collective a little place called Aspen. Founded in 2022 by five close-knit friendsโNick Babcock, Hunter Sheridan, Jordan Moore, Nolan Hubbard, and Ty Callanโthe band redefines the modern โboy bandโ mold, blending pop sensibilities with alternative flair and musicianship. With influences ranging from Landon Conrath and Valley to LANY and the Band CAMINO, Aspen crafts shimmering soundscapes built for late-night drives and sun-soaked daydreams.
From the first note, โHeadspaceโ hooks you in with ambient, shimmering layers and punchy, cool-paced beats, creating a breezy atmosphere that feels both dreamlike and grounded. The guitar strumming glides soothingly beneath the surface, while the charismatic, youthful, breathy high vocals pull you into a melodic swirl. The production around his opening lines play with dynamic back-and-forth edits, pouring into the movement and texture that keeps the song endlessly engaging.
Lyrically, โHeadspaceโ is swoon-worthy and instantly memorable, capturing the restless desire to break free and find solace in the simple, fleeting moments:
ย โBecause Iโm looking out through the sunroof / Letting my hair loose / Dreaming of an island in the sunโฆโ
The imagery flirts with psychedelia, evoking the feeling of slipping into a blissful headspace while trying to dodge the darker corners of your own mind. Thereโs a kinetic energy in the verses and chorus, like a road trip fantasy set to music.
Recorded, performed, and produced entirely by the band themselves, and mixed by Dan Brodbeck (with mastering by Montano Mastering), โHeadspaceโ showcases a little place called Aspenโs sharp ear for hook-driven songwriting paired with emotional authenticity. With monthly releases planned through 2025 and into 2026, a little place called Aspen are here to keep you swooning in and out of work days.
