At just 21, Nazzy the Mic has already lived a few artistic lifetimes. I Am Nazzy isn’t just a breakout moment so much as a self-portrait in motion. It’s confident, tender, sharp-edged, and intimate. Hailing from Philadelphia, Nazzy brings her melodic instincts and raw lyricism, as a young Black queer Muslim woman. She’s pulling from her identity and putting it into work that hits both the heart and the head.
I Am Nazzy opens its doors gently with “Let Me Know,” easing listeners in on a slow, rumbling beat wrapped in immersive textures. Nazzy’s husky, molten voice glides and rushes at once, balancing desire and control as she circles intimacy with breathy confidence. It’s sensual, relaxed, but charged. From there, “Wassup” leans into a late-night mood, built on soft piano, deep buzzing lows, and a sparkly, restrained rhythm. Nazzy raps nonchalantly, but there’s an unmistakable hunger underneath, a sense of freedom and ownership in the way she moves through the beat.
Then comes “Last Scar,” one of the album’s emotional anchors. Opening on a melancholic piano, the track carries visible tension in her voice before the beat drops hard and thumping. Here, Nazzy’s vulnerability cuts deep—grief, faith, loyalty, love, and survival all collide. She is resilient yet exposed, turning pain into propulsion. This song is grounded in real loss and real hope, never sanitized.
Across I Am Nazzy, the sequencing and its hooks pull you closer, while bars make you stay. Nazzy settles into the truths and builds a home, and invites you to listen. And once you’re in, it’s hard not to stick around. Check it out on Spotify.
