Roxy Rawson returns with something spellbindingly intimate on โI Found a Place in the Woods,โ a doorway through which once you step in, you may not walk out unchanged. Arrived this November 7th, 2025, the track is the first glimpse into Bright Star, her forthcoming 2026 album and easily her most expansive leap yet. With composer-producer Jherek Bischoff shaping the sonic palette, Rawson leans deeper into her chamber-folk instincts, weaving a fairytale that says all there is to say and portrays an aesthetic out of our most painful transformational journeys. It sounds like late autumn breathing โ fragile, gold-lit, and trembling at the edges.
The song opens with a curious mix of earthy textures, with shaking jittery percussion, light clinks tapping in their own off-kilter rhythm, and a soft rumble rising beneath it all. Rawson layers in playful tongue-rolled vocalizations, sounding something like โtiririti-tirititi-tamtamtam,โ straight out of wispy woodland inanities calling the listener inward. When she starts singing in her low register, her voice feels close enough to touch, โI found a place in the woods, it was mine / Last time I couldnโt find my way, I felt blind.โ Itโs gentle, almost secretive, before she suddenly lets the melody bloom wide open.
As her voice climbs, she pleads for guidance, for someone to stay, for something to anchor her, soaring to the very top of her range with a vibrato that quivers like light through branches. Around her, deep plucked folk instruments wrap warmly against writhing strings, while rustling drums give the arrangement urgency, as if something is moving through the trees just out of sight.
By the final swell, her raw, searching, and luminous vocals are nothing short of astonishing. Paired with Anna Maria Lesevicโs hand-drawn animated forest odyssey, the single becomes a full emotional journey: a wandering soul slowly finding her way home.
