Jeff Schubert, aka Crazy Old Head, crashes back onto the scene with “I’m The Quarterback!”, a riotous rap-comedy single and music video that skewers the bloated salaries of NFL quarterbacks with unfiltered swagger and satire. Backed by jittery percussion, a bouncy beat, and just the right amount of absurdity, the song is a hilarious, whip-smart commentary on the sports media machine and the egos it inflates. Schubert delivers his lines with cocky bravado and tongue-in-cheek conviction, playing a character who demands top-dollar not just for touchdowns—but for everything from gas to Fruit Loops.
The YouTube music video is just as outrageous as the lyrics, putting Schubert in full quarterback cosplay, flanked by two sexy cheerleaders who chant and dance with cartoonish enthusiasm. The minimalist beat lets his rhymes shine, and each visual cut is perfectly timed to amp up the comedy. One moment he’s being massaged in a spa as he croons about getting pampered; the next, he’s storming around like a delusional superstar, demanding respect (and a raise) while side characters drop hilarious ad-libs. A deadpan voice whispers motivational soundbites in the background, “Bounce, bounce, bounce.” It’s a sensory rollercoaster of ego, delusion, and cheerleader-fueled fantasy.
Halfway through, the track takes a mock-earnest turn with soft acoustic guitar strumming out fake crocodile tears and a faux-emotional verse about haters and financial destiny, until the punchline lands: “Don’t be a running back!!” Cymbals splash in, the beat kicks up again, and we’re thrown right back into the chaos. The final scene has the cheerleaders seducing him back into the groove after the men in the line-up walk out mid-chant, pissing him off, just in time for one last explosion of egotistical rhymes and punchlines that has gotten the internet rolling in the perfect extent of comedic timing.
Equal parts sports satire, character comedy, and rap parody, “I’m The Quarterback!” is a high-energy, low-mercy takedown of overpaid egos, disguised as a banger. It’s wild, smart, and irresistibly fun. Check out the YouTube music video, if you like what you hear.
