The new track from the Louisville rapper, which went popular on TikTok just days before its release, is now available for purchase.
Since the song โWHATโS POPPINโ went viral during the height of the pandemic over two years ago, Jack Harlow has been everywhere, from the Grammys to SNL to the Kidsโ Choice Awards. Harlowโs strength is his ability to appeal to a wide range of demographics: he has huge popularity and never seems to lose.
Another of Harlowโs assets is that heโs a natural goofball who is both in on and above the joke, always with a knowing wink. He understands what heโs doing, and he uses the Gen-Z algorithm to great effect in his current single, โFirst Class.โ
โFirst Class,โ which features a sample of Fergieโs ageless โGlamorous,โ sees Harlow further exploring in the gap between geeky and likeable โ possibly the key to his success. Even as he delivers objectively terrible lines about pineapple juice and Euphoria actor Angus Cloud, you canโt help but cheer for him; it helps that heโs backed by a creative sample twist with just the perfect bit of funny nostalgia. Few rappers could successfully mix a sample into a song with words like โI been a (G), throw up the (L), sex in the (A-M)โ without sounding corny. But, then then, there isnโt much Jack Harlow canโt get away with.
