If you haven’t felt alive in a long time, Cosmos is here to transcend you to a world unknown with genre-bending tactics from the alternative world to the unknown. It’s atmospheric, to say the least, but unworldly, with rock guitars, cymbals, drums, and vocals calling inward. It has that 80s vibe but adds to that with a vastness unlike any other music. As a rock fan, be ready to hear something different.
It spaces out for the audience to truly get lost in the realm created by the music before the vocals break out in the most complementary fashion. The Canadian alternative rock scene is ready to be taken away with Suburban Bicycle Gang and their single In the Cosmos.
The musical cacophony aided by the hard beating drums artistically represents a vibrant space as though you may be taken by the time the first verse begins. The vocalist has a jazzy voice and tone in the chorus, but slowly you notice the cymbals hanging in the air as they are left behind and the guitars grinding lesser and eventually released. A reverbed deep voice then makes up for the lost instrumentals slowly losing effect, with a gravely intoned stretched voice.
The Cosmos effect created in the track comes from the ability to allow the strings to take their own course as the thrum of the drum on their own. It’s as though each instrument moves in its own beats. It’s almost alive as is an effective ecosystem.
