Few producer-led projects aim this high, but War Torn builds an entire cinematic world around it. Crafted by Doha-based producer HZPROD, the EP gathers an impressive cast of rappers and vocalists, yet the real star is the vision tying everything together. Inspired by conflict, displacement, survival, and hope, War Torn plays less like a conventional hip-hop release and more like a collection of interconnected stories unfolding across the same scarred landscape.
The project opens with “Save The Children (Intro),” a brief but effective scene-setter. Children’s voices float over organic instrumentation before disappearing into descending bass and thumping percussion, immediately establishing a mood of innocence overshadowed by looming unrest.
From there, “A.F.R.I.C.A” becomes one of the EP’s emotional centerpieces. Built on melancholic piano, immersive textures, and slow-burning drums, Marco Vernice, Siggas, and Sashaa paint a vivid portrait of survival amid inequality. The lyrics reject stereotypes while confronting poverty, migration, identity, and resilience. Rather than speaking from a distance, the track feels lived-in, turning personal frustrations into universal commentary.
Then comes “War Within,” arguably the project’s most gripping moment, featuring Horseshoe G.A.N.G. and Zombie Juice. Heavy, cinematic percussion lands like marching boots while tense flows slice through the production. The rappers shift between measured urgency and machine-gun intensity, mirroring the psychological battles explored in the lyrics. Lines about poverty, volatility, genocide and inherited trauma transform the song from a social observation into something painfully intimate.
Later, “God Is The Key” injects fresh momentum with ominous atmospherics, rumbling drums, and rapid-fire performances that feel determined rather than defeated. Even when the project addresses darkness, it constantly searches for meaning beyond it.
What makes War Torn compelling is HZPROD’s ability to balance grand humanitarian themes with personal storytelling. By the final notes, War Torn leaves behind a reflection on endurance, empathy, and the people living through the headlines.
