In the latest video with Cozz, Lute sees “Eye to Eye.” The song may be found on Lute’s ‘Gold Mouf’ album from last year.
Lute, Dreamville’s very own, debuted his Gold Mouf debut record a few months ago, a 13-track body of work that features labelmates J.I.D, Cozz, and Ari Lennox, as well as Saba, Westside Boogie, BJ The Chicago Kid, and others. Since then, fans have had the opportunity to hear the music performed live at Dreamvillefest earlier this month, but Lute has now returned to present another video from the project. The introspective new clip for “Eye to Eye” featuring Cozz, directed by Gabe Hostetler and Khairi Christopher, has the two musicians letting out some feelings in a therapy session:
I hate on no more ’bout who lookin’ down on me, who proud of me? That reassurance would be nice to know I’m killin’ things/ Been goin’ through the motions, ’cause lately I ain’t been feelin’ things, been to myself more, the music always healin’ things/ I watch close friends react to me in situations and n***as act like they ain’t got the patience, whack
Lute most recently appeared on D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, which included the whole Dreamville lineup and was hosted by the legendary DJ Drama. On songs like “Like Wine,” Lute delivered some bars.
Cozz dropped his Fortunate EP a few months ago, which features seven songs and a single YG feature. Cozz teased fans with singles like “Addicted” and “Title Track” in the lead up to the album’s release. Cozz’s most recent full-length album, Effected, was released in 2018, and before that, Cozz & Effect. Meanwhile, he may be heard on the iconic Revenge of the Dreamers compilations dishing out show-stopping verses. He handles “LamboTruck” with Reason and Childish Major, “1993” with J. Cole, JID, EarthGang, Buddy, and Smino, and more on that set.
