Insomnia by Daggerplay: Review

Daggerplay has a huge statement to make, “Rock’n’roll is not dead, it is immortal.” through the release of their latest single, “Insomnia” last May. This single is a promising gift for all rock’n’roll fans after their acclaimed album “Subterranean Reality”.
Continuing their aesthetic on abstract, surreal stories revolving around a character named Johnny, “Insomnia” celebrates a hero who relentlessly fights against the shadow in his insomnia in a surrealistic ambiance. “Insomnia” ravages your senses with guitar riffs that can make you crumble. There is a bizarrely amazing range of styles in the melody with the punch of punk meets the roar of rock making you want to be delirious. There are reckless moments everywhere, which leads you to want to maximize the volume. These guitar screams that fly out of the track, making the noise you have heard become one of the craziest, most animated sound of the year. You can’t listen to this song and stay still at all. The power of Daggerplay is in their style of storytelling: utmost powerful, craftful and full of strong emotions, reminiscent of the reputed Slipknot and Linkin’ Park. “Insomnia” is the first taste of their new upcoming music, so it is worth anticipating.
Quotable lyrics:
“Out of his brain
Night and day
Speeding up on a hellbound train
Blown away
Wide awake“
Their latest single, “Daggerplay” is now available on all streaming platforms, including YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music.
