The 6-member band, Iriespect is back with a most engaging, Reggae debut album of the same name this July 19.
IRIEspect gets going with their hit single “Blasting,” which garnered 1K album streams on Apple Music the day it was released and now sporting more than 10K listens. The song sure lives up to its name as it gives carefree vibes with infectious rhythm, trippy beats and husky vocals singing it out together. “La Cocina,” featuring Ras Ajai, is a standout, with trippy, jangly, organic drums beating out an engaging rhythm while the cymbals light up sparks. Ajai’s deeper, thicker vocals alongside the lead singer bring a dynamic and engaging factor to the contagiousness.
Folding IRIEspect in half is the relaxing and psychedelic “Legal (feat. Fame),” featuring F.A.M.E. With a light reggae hook carrying the song along with glitzy percussions and a hypnotic, warm trailing music, this song is definitely for those who love that psychedelic buzz.
“All Apologies” is an interesting and unique song that has piqued my interest, especially with how it opened the song with a high, shrill clinking sound and integrated it into the reggae rhythm. The instruments bring a certain warmth to the engagement and ethereality. All in all, it’s relaxing and sweet, just like summer.
Completing the album is “La Morena (feat. Juan Jurano).” It begins with a zooming theatricality, thanks to driving and churning riffs and sparkling cymbals. Jurano’s thick vocals take the helm as he corresponds to the rhythm and gives an engaging sing-along performance that turns into an infectious rap section.
Iriespect is soon to return to the stage this Oct 20 at Paramount NY. Stay tuned for more blasts incoming.
