2nd Brightest Object’s latest offering, “It’s Tomorrow There,” takes listeners on a captivating musical journey through five tracks that beautifully blend tranquil music with chaotic repetitive lines. Led by the talented musician and multi-instrumentalist Aimee, this EP showcases her skills as she handles all instruments and vocals, creating a truly immersive experience.
The EP opens with “Ghost,” setting the tone with the atmospheric coolness of synthesizers and hazy vocals. Aimee’s ethereal vocals perfectly capture the lyrics, “Spending all my time/With a ghost, a ghost/Lonely by design/With a ghost, a ghost,” that convey her struggles and the loneliness of it all.
The transition into “The Walk” is seamless, as the moody synthesizer and distorted guitar emphasize the raw emotions expressed within. “Bump” introduces a more upbeat and energetic rhythm, infusing the EP with a dose of infectious energy. Aimee’s versatile vocals shine through in the chorus, but it’s the verses that tell us what she’s trying to portray: “Guitar chords sustain and ring/Catchy tune makes me sing/Stand up, hit the floor/Come on give me more/Of that bass, it goes.”
As the EP progresses, “Goodbye” takes us on a bittersweet journey to new beginnings, concluding past affairs. Closing the EP is “I’ll Have U,” in which Aimee takes on a dreamier feel with memories of past love that haunt her. It seems saying goodbye wasn’t enough.
“It’s Tomorrow There” is a must-listen for fans of alternative and indie music and a promising sign of the artistic depth and potential that lie within 2nd Brightest Object’s future endeavors.
