Keep Up by Paul Vinson: Review
Things that hurt, people that make us feel lonely- we are in a constant battle to keep them out of our thoughts but like an unexpected suicide they somehow breach our walls and haunt us, make us ponder. Paul Vinsonโs new single โKeep Upโ released on 22nd July, 2022 captures that feeling. The song was written after Paul Vinson discovered that a former classmate of his had committed suicide.
Paul Vinson named after the lead singer is an Indie Rock band based in Nashville. The first thing that you will notice listening to โKeep Upโ is Paul Vinsonโs voice. It is a lovely voice, loud and clear with a tint of rasp, a voice you could listen to all day and not get enough. Paul Vinsonโs voice in โKeep Upโ will make you feel like listening to nature. So melodic, so pitch perfect with every note leaving a residual feeling in your ears.
Musically the song is a bright one where the instruments evoke a feeling of returning back to your country home while watching a sunset. But the lyrics are heartbreaking and thought-provoking making a contrast with the instruments and Paul Vinson has managed to create a bridge between both feelings like an expert artist. The composition is fantastic with a bridge that features some percussive magic and impaling synth work signifying the final moments, the letting go, the freedom we find in life and death. This song is bound to take the band to new heights and makes us excited about their upcoming works.
